What is wedding insurance cover?

When looking around for wedding insurance cover, it is possible to cover every eventuality throughout the whole day. Some Insurance companies offer cover from the day you take it out until 12 hours after the day has finished. This is particularly useful if you are planning your wedding day well in advance. You then have peace of mind in case one of your suppliers goes out of business and you have already paid a deposit, or if your wedding attire gets damaged before the big day.

Other insurance policies will cover you for the 24 hours of the wedding day itself. You can also take out insurance which will last for the duration of the honeymoon.

You may already have a form of insurance without realising it!

For example, if you pay for any goods or services via a credit card, you are covered under section 75 of the Credit Agreement Act. If there is a problem with the goods or the services you are eligible to claim your money back.

Some examples of the things that you can get insurance for are:

  • Injury to bride or groom
  • Loss or damage to flowers, gifts, flowers, wedding attire etc
  • Personal liability for injury to any 3rd parties
  • Loss or damage to 3rd party property
  • Tailor make your insurance policies can be as basic or as comprehensive as you like or need it to be.
  • Stress counselling
  • Legal expenses
  • Personal accident
  • Services or suppliers, in the event of them going bankrupt or out of business
  • Bereavement of any of the immediate wedding party
  • Double bookings
  • Photographs not turning out
