RSPCA Pet Insurance: Compare

http://www.rspca.org.uk/

There are lots of places to get pet insurance these days. It’s the third biggest sector in the industry. But the RSPCA seems like one of the more obvious sources – after all, it has been protecting our animals for a very long time. That’s not a reason in itself to commit to a policy, but it can’t be a bad thing that 10% of an RSPCA pet insurance premium goes directly to the charity.

RSPCA pet insurance is not the most comprehensive it’s possible to find, but generally its benefits are similar to those of other pet insurers. Among the benefits offered by the RSPCA scheme are cover of up to ₤4,000 per condition for vet’s bills, third party liability for dogs, and cover if you have to cancel or cut your holiday short because your pet is ill. One big asset is a free, 24-hour, 365-days-per-year veterinary emergency line if you need help outside normal hours. Good value insurance is a fine balance between provisions and the cost of premiums, so whoever you decide to insure with it’s worth thinking carefully about what your needs are.

Unlike with most pet insurers, you can’t get a quote online but will have to call their helpline on 0870 242 6242. But one bonus with the RSPCA website (which you can find at www.rspca.org.uk) is that there is as you might expect a wealth of information about pet care on it. That includes tips on feeding, microchipping, worming, first aid and – good job your pet can’t read – neutering.
