Pinnacle Pet Insurance: Compare

http://www.pinnacle.co.uk/

Cats being cats, they often decide not to stick to the more common mishaps and to find a more interesting way of testing out their nine lives. Such as eating a string of tinsel from a Christmas tree: a feat attempted by a Scottish cat called Tara in 2004. Tara – who had to have an operation to remove the tinsel but was fine afterwards – was one of the pets claimed for on a Pinnacle pet insurance policy. The tinsel and a previous earring-swallowing incident mounted up to ₤600 of vet’s bills. That’s a good illustration of why it might be worth taking out pet insurance, whichever insurer you choose to go with.

You can get a quote for Pinnacle pet insurance at the website (www.pinnacle.co.uk) and then it’s a matter of deciding whether the price and cover are what you’re looking for by comparing quotes from different insurers. One big advantage to Pinnacle pet insurance is that it does not limit the claim time for chronic conditions – many insurers will only pay out for one year after the date of first treatment. And if two or more pets are insured with the company they will give each a month’s free cover per year. They will also pay the vet directly for you and will ‘usually’ settle claims within 72 hours. Unlike some insurers they will cover rabbits as well as cats and dogs. Note, however, that ‘your premium will not subsidise the premiums of pets more prone to problems or living in more costly parts of the country’. That, of course, could work both ways… are you an owner of one of the pets more prone to problems, or living in a more costly part of the country? To be fair though, most if not all pet insurers will take variables like this into account when they calculate your premium.

Pinnacle, or Cardiff Pinnacle to give the company its full name, was set up in 1971 and also does home emergency, personal accident and sports injury insurance. Animals turn up again in Pinnacle’s sporting links, which since 2002 include sponsorship for racing at Epsom in the descriptively if not very exotically named Pinnacle Insurance Handicap.
