Norwich Union Pet Insurance - Compare

http://www.norwichunion.com/

It was in 2003 that Norwich Union launched its pet scheme called – the clue is in the title – Cats and Dogs. Norwich Union pet insurance cover comes in two flavours, yearly and lifelong. The main difference between the two is that the former offers ₤4,000 cover for the treatment of each condition claimable for one year after diagnosis while the latter offers ₤4,000 per year for the treatment of all illnesses and injuries. The excess charge is also bigger for the latter policy, but in both cases the excess rises sharply when the animal hits the grand old age of ten, or seven for certain breeds of dog. Other benefits including cover for boarding fees, advertising and rewards should your pet go missing, and compensation for holiday cancellation are the same under both policies. There’s personal liability cover of up to ₤1 million for dog owners.

There are limitations under the Norwich Union pet insurance schemes which are similar to those of many, but not all, other pet insurers. A pet has to be under eight when the policy is first taken out, or five for certain breeds of dog. Excluded are dogs with ‘vicious tendencies’, working dogs, and dogs who have been claimed for/complained about in the past five years. And any medical conditions which have already been clinically diagnosed or are diagnosed within a fortnight of the policy being taken out cannot be claimed for. There are also limitations on the breeds catered for, so if you’re the owner of a Pyrenean Mountain Dog you will unfortunately have to look elsewhere.

You can obtain a quote for Norwich Union pet insurance at www.norwichunion.com, as well as the full policy documents and an outline of cover (which you have to enter your postcode to gain access to). Before deciding on any insurance scheme, make sure you look at as many as possible to find the one which is best suited to you and your pet, and always read the policies through very thoroughly.
