Direct Line Pet Insurance - Compare

http://www.directline.com/

Direct Line is one of the big players in the online and telephone insurance market. And as such it wasn’t going to be long before it tapped in to one of the industry’s fastest growing sectors – pet cover. Direct Line pet insurance provides similar cover to many of its competitors, offering ‘Essential’ and ‘Advanced’ options. Under the former you can claim for up to ₤4,000 worth of vet’s fees per condition. This is a substantial amount compared to the ₤1,000 offered by some policies, but the fact that it is only claimable for twelve months from the first date of treatment perhaps reduces the disparity… how much are you likely to need to claim in a year? With the Advanced option the cover available goes up to ₤6,000 and there is no time limit on it. Exclusions include working animals and dangerous dogs, animals who already suffer from ill health and animals over 9 years old (or 6 years in some cases). There are also additional cover options.

The pet section on the Direct Line website is, as with the rest of the site, easy to use and comprehensive (and it has a cute picture of a puppy, though that’s obviously not one of the most important features). There’s a PDF booklet on Understanding Pet Insurance plus the obligatory policy information and, as with all Direct Line insurance, the facility to obtain quotes and manage policies online. If you sign up with Direct Line pet insurance you get a year’s free membership with Petback Protect. This scheme will transfer all the necessary information about your pet to a national register if they go missing. The Missing Pets Bureau works with thousands of pet care organisations and promises to contact you straight away, no matter what hour of the day, when your pet reappears.

For more information about Direct Line pet insurance, visit the site at www.directline.co.uk. You can also look up the Missing Pets Bureau directly at missingpetsbureau.co.uk. As always, compare quotes and cover from several sources before you choose a policy. A few will allow unlimited cover and cover to older or very young animals.
