Bad Credit Personal Loans - People with History UK

It's all very well talking about the different personal loans available on the UK market, but if you are one of those people with a bad credit history or CCJs, you might not find it quite so easy to shop around for the best deals.

Whilst this is true, poor credit history does not mean that you have to settle for extortionate interest rates and unacceptable repayment terms. A conventional high street lender may view you has high risk, but there is a growing number of lenders who will not refuse your application based on your adverse credit history or seemingly 'high risk' circumstances.

So, how do you go about getting a personal loan in the UK if you have a bad credit history?

As always, shop around. There ARE lenders out there who will consider your application. Make sure you know you can afford to keep up your payments. If not, your credit rating is going to get even worse and you are going to sink into more debt than you were in before.

If you are a homeowner, you may find that institutions are more likely to lend you money if the loan is secured against your property. This also has the advantage of getting you a better interest rate, but if you do not keep up your repayments you run the risk of losing your home so be realistic when working out how much you can afford to pay back each month.

Will my credit history ever improve?

Although you are likely to pay higher interest rates now, you are on the right road to changing your poor credit history. Provided that you make your loan repayments on time each month, your credit scoring will eventually improve and you will begin to have more loans at better rates at your feet.
