Motorcycle Insurance Broker UK

Many people complain about how expensive motorcycle insurance is and the they find it hard to find a good motorcycle insurance broker. The reason for this is likely to be because it IS expensive. People complain and complain and complain some more, then they get involved in an accident, and find their motorcycle insurance company has sent a specialist response team to take your bike to a garage to get it fixed, or have replaced it, or your bike is stolen and you get paid out - then they see that their complaining was just ungrateful.

Riding a bike without insurance is breaking the law. The real reason that this is a problem is that should you be involved in a crash in which someone else is hurt, they actually have the right to sue you, and you could maybe be taken to the cleaners in the courts. Thus insurance is a very good idea indeed.

The lowest form of insurance up until recently was called Road Traffic Act, or Act only insurance. It was the bare minimum under which you could ride, and would pay out to anyone with a legal claim against you which was upheld in court. It didn't cover damage to property, and is now no longer available.

So the bare minimum now is third party only insurance. Should you hit someone else you can claim on your insurance to recompense any damage to vehicles, property, people that are caused in the accident. The reason its called third party is that you and your insurer are first and second parties - with the other people being party three.

After this is third party fire and theft insurance - then there is fully comprehensive insurance, which is better known as fully comp. This covers third party, fire and theft insurance plus damage caused to your own bike, and it doesn't matter if the accident is your fault and there isn't anyone else involved.

As for choice of policy, should you have a very old bike worth less than £500, then you don't really need to purchase any more than third party only insurance. Not many people in their right mind would bother risking their neck for a 40,000 mile black old CZ. But there again, since thieves are thieves, they'll probably nick anything not nailed to the floor. At the other end of the scale, should you be buying a new bike your finance company will probably insist that the bike is insured on fully comp.

A motorcycle insurance broker can help you to find the right insurance for you. You explain your needs to them, and they should attempt to arrange the lowest cost insurance that fully covers your needs. They help you get a fuller overview of the market, and can save you time too.
