Cheap Motorbike Insurance UK

Getting cheap motorbike insurance is not easy. Motorbikers are more likely to be involved in accidents, and also tend to be people who having added up the probabilities are happier to take risks, leading to the purchasing of a motorbike in the first place. Most mainstream motor insurers shy away from motorbikes for this reason, and also because they don't know enough about motorbikes anyway, so for a start, you need to go to specialist motor insurance companies.

If you already have motorbike insurance, a sure way to allow your premiums to go up and not have the cheapest deal is to automatically renew you insurance policy with your existing insurers every year, in order to keep your life "easy". The insurance industry isn't so easy as to reward you for staying with your current insurer. So you need to shop around for as many quotes as you can, then return to your current insurers and show them the quote you have. Insurers know that it is far better business for them to retain existing customers than to find new ones, so if you go back to your current insurers with your lowest quote than you'll find them likely to try to better it, maybe match it and most likely to try and get as close as possible to it. Many insurers set targets for returning customers - due to the reduced marketing spend involved, and you should take advantage of that.

And then there's the bike's manufacturer. When you buy your bike, you'll very often find that the bike's manufacturer offers deals for insurance, which makes it worthwhile getting your bike insurance from them. More importantly, you'll know that the insurance is more likely to be specific to the bike. Some people choose their bikes specifically because of the insurance saving that they can make as part of the deal. A manufacturer is also more likely to have links with reputable repair companies, and to decent rescue services as well.

If you shop around enough, you should find that motorbike insurance companies are beginning to offer discounts for certain things. It's still not so likely that you can get no claims discounts, as the large likelihood of bike accidents mean that they can't afford to give discounts just for someone not claiming. But you can also get discounts for taking and passing advanced riding courses, for fitting your bike with added security measures such as alarms or ground anchors, and for keeping it in a garage overnight.

What you mustn't do to get cheap premiums is not tell the truth when you get your insurance. Don't lie about claims or convictions, or where you like or your job. Claims will be rendered invalid if you are found out.
