Mortgage A mortgage is basically a loan which enables you to purchase property with regular repayments being made over an agreed period of time, typically 25 years. If you fail to keep up with your repayments the Lender has the right to sell the property to retrieve their money. As this is probably the biggest investment you will make in your lifetime, it is essential that you fully understand all of your options.
With any mortgage your house may be at risk if you do not keep up with the repayments on your mortgage or any other loans secured against it.
