Direct Line Home Insurance: get quotes online

http://www.directline.com/

Direct Line was one of the very first insurance brokerage companies to really recognise the value of the information and communications revolutions we’ve seen in the past few decades. First they took advantage of the low overheads involved in call centre services, then they went online. The company started off in 1985 only with car insurance but expanded quickly and Direct Line home insurance now has a substantial share of the market.

Direct Line Home Insurance offers various discounts

There are various deals available on the Direct Line site (www.directline.com), including an offer to pay the fee if your bank will charge you to switch your home insurance. And if you have motor insurance with the company there is a 25% ‘introductory discount’ on Direct Line home insurance. There’s also a 5% discount for buying online and at the time of writing a 20% discount on the first year’s premium – the last one seems to be just because they feel like it.

Direct Line offers buildings and contents cover with various optional add-ons. There’s also a home emergencies service which will help you find the necessary tradesman and provide two levels of cover – one at up to ₤1000 for all call outs and labour; the other unlimited but only paying for call outs and the first hour of labour. Unfortunately the little red phone on wheels doesn’t really scoot in so you will have to use your own. For more information and an online quote check the website, and remember the two golden rules when buying any kind of insurance: shop around and read the policies carefully before you choose.
