The Home Insurance Quote Online in the UK

Insurance premiums are rising at an alarming rate. So you should shop around for home insurance cover. The internet has provided you with an excellent way to find a home insurance quote, and to be able to compare like-for-like insurance policies to find the cheapest ones that will suit your needs. You can fill in a form, which in general terms will ask you more questions that you actually need for a quote. This is to ensure they have enough information that when you apply to the actual insurer through the site they can pass on enough information.

Most sites should be able to find the >best quote for you. They know that it is a competitive world, and that they don't make any money unless you actually apply for home insurance through them, so giving you a uncompetitive quote would not be good for business. Don't go to just one home insurance site though, because you can probably get a better quote the more websites that you visit.

Also, the advantage of searching on the internet is that you can be offered lower rates than if you search on the phone or face to face. This is because searching via the internet saves an insurance company or broker administration costs, as they don't need to input your data into their system, and might not have to form an interface between you and the insurer as well. You can download an application form, if you need to print it out, so that saves them mail costs. These savings are passed on to the consumer which means that both the insurer and the customer benefit.

Something else you should look out for is when a website only offers one type of policy, maybe from one insurer. This does not give you the choice that you need in order to find the best insurance policy for you. Beware also of insurers with very limited criteria for acceptance. What they are doing is picking only the best risks, which means that the vast majority of users will have very expensive premiums.

You should therefore find a site that spends the time searching through a large number of policies from a large number of insurers, saving yourself the work and inconvenience, and hopefully saving you money as well!

One nice little tip is to play off one insurance company against another. You can even do this with brokers. Find a cheap quote, find a cheaper one, then go back to the first company, and tell them about the cheap offer you have. It's not unheard of for one company to try to better another company's offer.
