Car Insurance for women UK - cheap car insurance

Car insurance for woman:

Contrary to male mythology it's a fact that women are much safer drivers than men. On a practical level this means that women are able to take advantage of lower insurance premiums, often much to the chagrin of their male counterparts.

As soon as insurance companies realised that women were the safer sex on the road they began to offer special women-only policies to plug the gap in the market. A number of insurance companies catering exclusively for female drivers also sprang up. The philosophy behind them was simple: why on earth should women pay inflated premiums because of men's poor driving?

The statistics on road safety's gender-split make for illuminating reading. As it turns out women do have just as many accidents as men; it's just that they are less severe and consequently cost less to repair. Women are much more likely to bump or prang a vehicle, while nearly all write-offs involve a man behind the wheel. Much of the blame for these statistics can be pinned on testosterone (well over 90% of all dangerous driving convictions are male), but also men tend to have a substantially higher annual mileage.

All this is good news for female drivers. Because there are several ‘women-only' insurance companies (such as Diamond and Diva) this has had a knock-on effect forcing other insurance providers to lower premiums for women. This means that wherever women look they're bound to find a better deal. However, there's still no better way to save money than to put in a few hours comparing different quotes on the web.

If you're a young female driver you'll be expected to pay higher premiums, which is understandable if you consider that the Automobile Association deems the UK 's safest driver to be a woman aged 55. So you might have to wait a few years to reap the real benefit in later life.
