The AA is one of the biggest names in motoring in the UK and also has one of the most reliable reputations. They're best known for roadside breakdown assistance, but have recently branched out into car insurance. Rather than offering insurance directly to the customer, the AA works as a broker for more than 20 of the country's best-known car insurance providers. Because of their size (and buying power) the AA is able to negotiate very competitive rates with their suppliers. Visit their website and they'll trawl through their database until they are able to find you the best deal, which should save you both time and money. If you take out additional breakdown cover with the AA, or are already an existing customer, you should be eligible for an additional discount. In a bid to boost online custom the AA has several web based promotions, including offering 12 months insurance for the cost of 11 (which effectively means that you get a month's free insurance).
