Compare esure Car Insurance: a real online 'Winner'

http://www.esure.com/

The esure adverts featuring Michael Winner are, the company astutely observes, ‘the marketing equivalent of an unscratchable itch’. It’s ironic then, considering Mr Winner is in some people’s opinion the king of luvvies, that the company has come in for flak from actors and other performance artists over its unwillingness to give them car insurance because of their profession.

esure great if you're not David Beckham

esure isn’t alone in making distinctions between different professions though – it’s common practice in the car insurance industry. Among other careers which are looked upon with reservations are those of professional sportsman - especially, one imagines, racing drivers… although probably footballers are the ones they really worry about - bouncer and journalist (apart from online journalists, who are of course the best drivers in the world and have really nice cars).

If you fit its bill, though, esure could be a good option. It turns up regularly in lists of low premiums. The site contains, as with other online car insurance sites, an online quote application form and detailed information about policies. There are also plenty of links to press articles which you can browse through to get a feel for what the company is about.

esure was started in 1999 by Direct Line’s founder, Peter Wood, who saw the potential for car insurance companies specializing in niche markets such as low risk (esure) and higher risk (Privilege). esure’s ethos is, it states, to ‘harness the power of the internet’ to provide good value insurance premiums for careful drivers. To this end its policy is to accept only drivers with a minimum of four years’ no claims discount and to provide a sliding scale of discounts thereafter peaking at 75% for ten years or more. Its strategy has led, it states, to a place as one of the ‘most competitive, fastest growing car insurance companies in the industry’… if, as we’ve mentioned, you meet its criteria.

For more information about esure, visit the website at www.esure.com. Before taking out insurance with anyone though, do your own research and compare quotes – these can vary a great deal so it’s well worth it.
