Tesco Breakdown Insurance Cover: a popular choice

http://www.tescofinance.com

Although the idea of supermarkets selling financial products – and holidays and everything else for that matter – still takes a bit of getting used to for some of us, Tesco is gaining an increasingly important share of the insurance market. Perhaps that’s because people find it reassuring to buy from someone they know. But even if you would naturally put Tesco and insurance together, Tesco breakdown cover may not be the first thing that springs to mind. Yet Tesco apparently deals with 1 million breakdowns each year.

Tesco Breakdown cover: the benefits

Benefits of the cover include a 24-hour, 365-day-a-week helpline and a promise of an 80% roadside repair rate and an average response time of 40 minutes. They will refund you ₤10 if they take longer than an hour to get to you. Tesco breakdown cover comes as an add-on to Tesco car insurance or as a stand-alone product. As such it is one of the lower-priced, starting at ₤33, but there is no mention of a no-claims discount. There are three levels of cover, which are all activated once you are a mile away from home. Unlike cover with the RAC or the AA, it is the car, not the driver as an individual, that is insured. If you have two cars and take out cover on both, it’s slightly cheaper per car. There’s also a European breakdown package.
